Location & size
With the Illerstrand on the doorstep, our Landhof d'Kammer is in a very idyllic and quiet location on the outskirts of Illerbeuren. After our parents gave up farming a few years ago, it was a matter close to our hearts to preserve the farm, where we still lived together with our grandparents, at all costs and to fill it with new life. What began as a small, fine bed & breakfast in our grandmother Anna's former home has grown over time into a vacation farm and a creative meeting place where the spirit of many generations lives. As the center of the family, our grandma has always brought everyone together with her kind and loving nature. So we set out with a great deal of courage and the aim of keeping the memory and home of our grandma Anna alive. We transformed her former "chamber" with a classic, modern interior and unique design pieces into a charming feel-good place with a total of three bedrooms, which up to ten guests can now call their temporary home. Adjacent to the house was the former farm section with stable and hay store, where five brand-new apartments were created in winter 2023, all equipped with a high-quality kitchen and their own outdoor area. As we didn't want to interfere too much with the building, one of the apartments was given a large, cozy sitting window instead of an outdoor area. The same guiding principle accompanied the entire renovation and defines our philosophy. Wherever possible, we preserved the old building fabric and did not shy away from the challenge of using sustainable and innovative building materials, such as hemp lime for the interior insulation.
The dairy kitchen in the farmhouse was given a new purpose as a cozy "chamber café". And in the former barn, a tall building with a loft character, up to 20 people can be seated at a large wooden table. With its large kitchen and stylish ambience, the barn is suitable for celebrations as well as conferences, seminars and retreats. We have converted the room under the roof into a yoga room and will be holding regular yoga retreats and other events there from 2024.
Farmyard experiences
Our wealth of ideas was not exhausted after designing the interior. We are pioneers because we don't want to throw anything away or waste anything, but want to continue using what we have as sensibly and sustainably as possible. This is how our picturesque garden was created. At the front, our courtyard faces the village; at the back, peace and nature dominate the 3000 square meter garden area, where we have planted 38 varieties of old fruit trees. So while you can take a seat on our grandmother's old bench at the front and watch the village go by, the house shields the garden and ensures that guests can relax undisturbed in the shade of the orchard. Where are the most beautiful spots? We'll be happy to tell you over a cup of coffee on our sun terrace! Where the silo area used to be, you can now relax to the sound of birdsong and gaze out into the green idyll, let your gaze wander over the numerous lounge corners and fire cube spots and pick your favorite spot to end the day.
On the way to the garden sauna at the back, you walk along the walkway made from old roof tiles. Our idea behind it: The clay stores excess moisture and can release it back into the meadow when needed. In this way, it is sensibly integrated into the cycle and nature reclaims the path when it is not being used by people.
All the best from the region
The first thing you do in the morning is head to the cozy Kammercafé, our breakfast room. Just as our grandmother used to delight the family with her breakfast, we serve our guests a breakfast based on the slow food principle - as seasonal and regional as possible, because the season often decides what is served. Here you will find everything your breakfast heart desires in three "courses": sweet homemade spreads and jams, bread, yoghurt and muesli. Followed by savory spreads, cheese and sausage from the region. And for those who like a little egg: We are happy to give free rein to our creativity and maybe we can inspire you with our dukkah egg? Because we know from our grandma: The way to the heart is through the stomach. If there are enough guests at the farm in the afternoon, we serve coffee and homemade cakes in the Kammercafé.
For families with children
In addition to couples and friends looking for relaxation, we also want our younger guests to enjoy their country vacation to the full. This is ensured by the large play area in the garden, the small playground, a large wooden train that we "rescued" from a kindergarten and restored, as well as the craft shed in grandpa's old workshop. We also offer families:
- Playground with nest swing and floor trampoline
- Wooden horses
- Kettcars
- Badminton rackets and other games
- Boules court
- Barbecue areas and an outdoor pizza oven
- Location in the immediate vicinity of the Iller beach, where children can float self-made rafts
Highlights in the surrounding area
The best thing about a vacation here with us is that you can experience the Allgäu in its most original form, where tourism is still restrained. But the cultural variety of excursion possibilities is amazing! Particularly enriching is the open-air museum right here in the village, which surprises and inspires again and again with changing events and activities for families. We are closely networked with local adventure organizers who regularly organize activities such as herb or goat hikes. We also highly recommend a visit to Rapunzelwelt, just five minutes away, with its fantastic visitor center. The River Iller is only a few minutes away and is ideal for swimming, stand-up paddling, swimming or rowing in summer temperatures. Our farm is located on two great cycle paths: the Allgäurunde and the Illerradweg. In our specially compiled cycling maps you will find everything you need to know to explore the area on two wheels. If you prefer walking, you are sure to find what you are looking for in the hiking maps or our large ideas book. We always keep up to date with events in the area and are happy to give you more tips on the spot! It makes our hearts beat faster every time we see how vacationers fall in love with our homeland.
