Location & Size
Ferienhof Fichtelgebirge is situated - only 5 minutes from the district town of Wunsiedel and the Landesjagdschule - on the quiet outskirts of Sichersreuth. The small village of about 70 inhabitants belongs to the municipality of Bad Alexandersbad, the only mineral and mud spa in the Fichtelgebirge. From our local mountain, the Kösseine, you can see the Bavarian Forest, the Rhön, the Thuringian Forest and the Ore Mountains in good weather. The view from our three holiday flats (on the 1st floor) and the three guest rooms (on the 1st and 2nd floor) also has its charm: from almost all of the accommodation units, which are allergy-friendly and furnished with solid wood furniture, you can watch the animals in the game enclosure. A rich Franconian country breakfast with homemade jams, spruce lace honey, freshly baked bread, farm eggs, bison salami and seasonal vegetables from our own cultivation can be prepared on request!
Farm experiences
Do you know why the bison, weighing up to 850 kilograms, are also called "Indian buffalo"? The answer to this question can be found on our certified organic farm, which we run on a full-time basis and whose roots go back to the 14th century. Our bison herd consists of 7 mother cows, their offspring and a breeding bull. They live on a 13-hectare grazing area adjacent to the farm. The bison share the game enclosure with our herd of 65 red deer. In addition, you will meet two Haflingers, two Coburg fox sheep from spring to autumn, geese, chickens and a cat on our well-kept farm.
Our ingredients for a relaxing family holiday on the farm
There is a lot for families to discover on our child-friendly farm - and we don't just mean the large range of games in the house (Duplo bricks, wooden train, books, board games)! What our youngest guests in particular can look forward to:
riding with farmer Martin on the tractor into the game reserve
help feed the animals
fetch eggs from the henhouse
lots of space to romp around
playground with trampoline, swing, etc.
In the meantime, parents can relax in a deck chair, heat up the barbecue in front of the covered outdoor seating area or pack their rucksacks for a trip to the hunting lodge in the forest. What we also offer if you are interested
guided hikes
accompanied Nordic walking tours
short round trip in the Fichtelgebirge, among others to places far away from mass tourism
Farm shop & hunting ground
We are direct marketers: We offer steaks, goulash and various sausage specialities from bison and red deer - we slaughter our animals on the farm and process the meat ourselves, so that we can guarantee you products of the best organic quality. Guests who have a hunting licence may go stalking in our 1000 hectare hunting area after a detailed briefing. We will be happy to clarify further details in person.
Highlights in the surrounding area
The district town of Wunsiedel is hard to beat in many areas! Here, children and adults alike are fascinated by Europe's largest sea of granite stones (Luisenburg rock labyrinth), Germany's oldest open-air theatre (Luisenburg Festival) and one of the most advanced bird of prey facilities in the EU (Katharinenberg Citizens' Park). Many other attractive places where you will be anything but bored are only 5 to 40 minutes by car from our farm, e.g.:
Bad Alexandersbad: Margravial Palace, Alexbad health centre, Waldbad swimming pool
Weißenstadt: Siebenquell thermal baths, Weißenstädter See lake
Mehlmeisel: Game Park at the Waldhaus
Fichtelberg: Gleissinger Fels visitor mine, Fichtelsee lake

Winter at Ferienhof Fichtelgebirge
With us you will be on holiday in one of the most snow-sure regions in Germany. The largest of the nine skiing areas in the Fichtelgebirge is only 15 minutes away from us by car: on the Ochsenkopf you can ski down the longest piste in northern Bavaria or have fun on specially designated toboggan runs. Cross-country skiers will love the Nordic Park Fichtelgebirge with its 255 kilometres of prepared trails, some of which you can even ski in the dark. Curling and ice skating are possible at the Waldbad in Bad Alexanderbad, only 5 minutes away by car. During Advent, the Nativity Scene Trail in neighbouring Marktredwitz is well worth a visit.
